See the San Francisco that inspired great authors like Alice Walker, Jack London, Dashiell Hammett, and Amy Tan. In North Beach, where the Beat poets originated, trace the steps of Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac. In the Mission, tour the Pirate Store at 826 Valencia, a nonprofit founded by Dave Eggers and dedicated to getting kids excited about literary arts.
